"But Moses said, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children out of Egypt?" He (God) said, "But I will be with you, and this shall the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain."

Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel: 'I AM has sent me to you."

Exodus 3:10-14

In Exodus 2, we see Moses' mother attempting to save her child by place him in a basket and putting it into the Nile. The basket was found by Pharaoh's daughter, who adopted him and raised him as her own. The pieces are already being placed. God is about to do something spectacular! As Moses grew, he witnessed an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave. He intervened on behalf of the slave resulting in the death of the Egyptian. Fearing for his life, Moses fled to the land of Midian where he again intervened to rescue the daughters of Jethro from bandits. Are you sensing a theme, yet?

Moses lived in Midian for about forty years before his life was completely changed by an encounter with God in, of all places, a bush that was engulfed in flames but not burnt up. That would certainly get my attention! In this encounter, God gives Moses a seemingly impossible task, a task that (unknown to Moses) God has been preparing him for all along - Pharaoh's daughter rescued Moses; Moses rescued the Hebrew slave; Moses rescued Jethro's daughters. This time, Moses was to rescue the people of Israel. Not just one. Not just a few. ALL!

Have you ever felt a call from God so extreme that you've wondered, "there's no way I can do this"? You are in good company. Moses' makes an outright request of God to find someone else. "Who am I that I should go......?" We ask this same question, just not perhaps in those exact words. We may say, "surely there is someone more qualified." Or, "I'm just not good at speaking in public. I get nervous." Or, "I'm too young.....I'm too old." When we begin a response to God with "me""I", or even "we"we've immediately gone wrong. We start with HIM! It's not a matter of what we are being instructed to, it's a matter of the ONE who has called us into it; the ONE who has groomed us for it; the ONE who will provide all we need to accomplish it (Philippians 4:13). In this response, God is encouraging Moses that the "I AM" is all that Moses will need.

This week, we hope to instill in your students a greater confidence in God who has set them apart, chosen them for His special purpose, and will equip them accordingly!!

You'll find everything you need below!
See you very soon!
